The core of this evolution is the new Datazoom Application Collector. Each application collector can be extended with Datazoom Media Player Extensions and Ad Framework Extensions.

Introducing the Application Collector

Previously, to use Datazoom, your application was focused around an application’s integrated media player. Our collectors were player-specific.

The introduction of Application Collectors changes this completely. They are new, lightweight collectors designed for any application platform (web, mobile, CTV) regardless of whether it has a media player.

This means that for the first time, companies in e-commerce, publishing, finance, gaming, and more can use Datazoom’s powerful collection and standardization engine to track the complete user journey:

  • Track page views and on-page experiences

  • Instrument conversion events and A/B tests

  • Standardize all your custom application data

  • Centralize user IDs to stitch together cross-platform journeys

  • Collect and federate any first-party data

A New, Modular Approach to Data Collection

This new approach to our collectors introduces a flexible, modular architecture. You start with a Collector for your app and then simply "plug in" extensions for any specialized data you need.

  1. Start with the Application: Captures your core application data—clicks, page views, and all the custom events that define your user journey.

  2. Add Media: Do you have video? Simply add the Media Player Extension for your specific player to get the world-class, granular video data Datazoom is known for.

  3. Add Ads: Is your video ad-supported? Plug in the Ad Framework Extension to capture every ad event in rich detail.

  4. Add Network Data: As always, you can configure our CDN Collector to correlate all of this application and video data with real-time network performance.
